A recently discovered capability of the processor that is used in the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus may point to a future upgrade in the company's TV set-top digital media player. The picture is bright, and refresh is acceptable for the graphics work (Adobe Suite for video and graphics) for which it is intended (there is a perceptible delay moving it around, but that's what you get with a huge monitor... apparently this thing is running at 60 Hz since 10.9.3, but it's very hard to tell honestly).

4k video cameraAnother project driven by Nippon TV was a broadcast of the October 2013 professional baseball match between the Yomiuri Giants and the Yakult Swallows in Tokyo Dome recorded using four 4K cameras and one high-speed camera.

Also, Amazon's 4K Ultra HD service is currently not as widely accessible as Netflix's, with only 2014 LG, Samsung and Sony 4K TVs confirmed as being able to handle it for now (though other brands will doubtless join the list in the coming months).

While this service is technically live, we haven't heard of the built-in YouTube app on any 4k video youtube TVs actually supporting it yet, so you'll need a fairly high-horsepower computer for playback. YouTube uses its own codec for 4K compression called VP9, which will likely be adopted by more manufacturers in the future, but it's still essentially untested right now. The company has also announced the launch of Ultraflix on all Samsung 4K UHD TVs, with a representative telling us it will be coming in the next few weeks. On the 28-inch, or even 32-inch 4K screens, you really don't get such a feeling for the extra resolution.

The Xperia Z2 is Sony's first mobile device to let you shoot 4K video, offering a 20.7 MP rear camera that's powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor. ZTE's latest high-end smartphones - including the Nubia Z7 and Nubia Z7 Max - offer 13 MP rear cameras with Optical Image Stabilization and 2160p video recording. The G3 and G Pro 2 use OIS+, meaning that they combine the OIS with EIS/DIS (electronic/digital image stabilization) for their video.
