d) Manuals or Guides, rules or methods followed to conduct business affairs or perform mental activities or play games.
e) Invention that may lead to violation of the public order or morals.
UAE Patents Office and Patent Application Procedures
The UAE Patents Law (Federal law number 44 of 1992) sets out the procedures and requirements for application and grant of patent. The law requires applicants to annual fees which are paid annually on the same date as the international filing date for applications covered under patent cooperation treaty and on completion of one year for domestically filed claims. These annual fees are charged towards maintenance of patents. In the event the application is consistent with the law and fits the requirements, the authorities upon carrying out a careful examination of inventive step, industrial capability, etc will issue an acceptance letter. The Law allows applicant to apply for a re-examination only in cases where the patent claim has received a partial acceptance from the authorities. Likewise, appeal can be made for rejected patents within a sixty days term. Once approved, patent is published in UAE's official journal - the gazette
