It's amazing how few students come out of our school systems ever acquiring any language skills, yet kids in different portions of the world begin learning multiple languages (including English) at a very young age. How lucky we are to have been born or brought up learning a language that's pretty much talked everywhere. It gives us more flexibility when traveling even in more rural areas you can generally locate younger individuals that you will be able to speak with.
I really do not know of any manner the Mexicans in our region, legal or not, are taking anything away from anybody. Authentic, "Pedro" received free medical care because of his radical harm. But no American kids were prevented by his doing thus from receiving needed care. I do not know that hospital is funded, but I do not believe it is with tax money. Even if it's, what difference does it make? They treat any child there who wants help. How could you turn away any child with a serious harm?
To me, it's more or less exactly the same situation with the Mexicans. But anybody who attempts to help them can count on bringing down the wrath of the majority who just plain don't care.
