My knees are shot from too much running in the health club and I find these very fundamental sitting postures practically not possible to manage. So, for me, the chanting is an exercise in pain and also the continuous thought running through my thoughts of "how much more"?

Since it's more small and image issues. Even shorts, for both women and men, are somewhat frowned upon. Again, you can get away with it as a foreigner, but if you intend to fit in, dress modestly.
