I decided it was time, only this past year. I felt I was totally prepared, and had thought about the trip since I was a young person. I'd read up on Japanese culture my entire life, and thought I understood enough of the language. I'd read books, listened to audio books, and even taken courses at the neighborhood community center. I had a Japanese friend who helped me with pronunciation and I 'd seen loads of Japanese movies. I was ready!
