Sadly due to the parents both in the land of nod they missed their in air travel meals.
As the air travel left from the UK then although Sri Lankan Airlines is not EU based your air travel is covered under the EU261 rules. As you were successfully bumped from your air travel due to over reserving it depends whether this was your selection or not. If you decided to go later on then there are no set rules how to claim flight delay compensation as you agree compensation with the airline company. If you are bumped without your contract, you are entitled to compensation, as long as you checked-in for your flight on time.
If you don't think an airline when it states the delay had not been its fault, you can refer the problem to the UK's regulatory authority, the Civil Aviation Authority, another European regulatory authority or the European Consumer Centre. Any of these can liaise with the airline company on your behalf to establish what caused the hold-up. However even then the CAA says it does not independently gather reasons for a flight hold-up and it will count on airlines to describe exactly what caused a delay.

I am extremely amazed with this business and the outcome that they achieved, specifically when Thomas Cook rejected that we were on this particular air travel! I didn't think that I can get any refund from this company (Wizzair) for my cancelled air travel and all spends which I need to rearrange my arrival and everything else.Thanks a lot for the great job and I will suggest you to all of my buddy ...
